The stones are very sparkly, and secure in the mat. Well made piece.The placemat is beautiful and I'll m using it for a "universe" theme in my eat in kitchen. It's really lovely.I wish I could truly capture the sparkles in this placemat because it is impressive. When they say rhinestones, they MEAN rhinestones! In the photos this placemat just looks like it may be covered in thick glitter, but it is an absolute glory of sparkly goodness. I am slowly but surely building a small collection for the center of the table for different gatherings, and this one is sure to impress!As far as quality, the rhinestones are well stuck on this place mat and are clear and sparkly. I'm not sure what more I can ask!Absolutely beautiful! It is made of rhinestones with a thin plastic sheet type layer covering the rhinestones for protection, I presume. The edges of the mat aren't as finished as they could be but still gorgeous no doubt. It will jazz up any area you choose to place it in. It is absolutely worth purchasing enough for the place settings on your table.
