I got a stair tread mat to put in front of my dog door, hopping to not have to put down snow and ice melt. I put it down a week before we had bad weather so they could get use to it being there. I also left it plugged in because I wanted to make sure it worked and was durable.I used my thermal image camera to see how well it heated and how hot it was. I wanted to make sure it didn’t get too hot for them to walk on. The highest point I recorded was about 80°F.After a few days we got hit with a snow storm. It worked great at keeping the surrounding areas clear when it was about 32°.A few days later we got hit with a larger snow storm that dropped a foot of snow that was then followed with subzero blizzard conditions. This mat performed flawlessly.It saves my 13 & 15 year old dogs from slipping and sliding, and having to walk on snow and ice melt. I’m now looking at getting a larger one to cover a larger area in their out kennel potty area.
